Gift a Vineyard, Not a Bottle
Most wine gifts are finished by Christmas. This one gets planted, tended and harvested every year, with the recipient’s name on the label.
A CLOS CIEN membership can be given as a present outright. The person you give it to becomes the holder of a real, GPS mapped plot of vineyard land in La Rioja, Spain. Their own vines, their own plot, and personally labelled wine from that plot every vintage.

A vineyard gift that produces wine every year
A good bottle is gone in an evening. A wine club subscription is other people’s wine, chosen by someone else, arriving on a schedule.
A vineyard is neither. It’s a defined plot in La Rioja Alavesa, cared for by a team that has spent three decades learning this terroir, producing wine that belongs to one person. Every year a new vintage. Every year a reason to go back.
That’s why it has become one of the more unusual presents people give for milestone birthdays, retirements and anniversaries. Not because it’s expensive for the sake of it, but because it’s the rare gift that keeps producing something new instead of sitting on a shelf.
Beyond adopt-a-vine: a real plot, your own vines
Adopt-a-vine schemes give you a certificate and a case of the estate’s wine. Pleasant, but the vine isn’t yours and neither is the wine.
CLOS CIEN is the full version. The plot is mapped, sized and identified. The wine comes from those vines specifically, labelled with the recipient’s name. The rights to the plot and its produce (the usufruct, in the legal wording) belong to the recipient.
Two plot sizes are available:
ORIGIN at 500 m² and ESTATE at 2,000 m².

Who this present suits
People who already have what they need. People who have been given enough bottles, glasses and corkscrews to open a shop. People for whom the gift itself has to say something, not just fill a gap under the tree.
It works especially well as:
- A 50th or 60th birthday present for a wine lover
- A retirement gift, something to tend now that there’s time
- A wedding or anniversary present, with the couple’s names on the label
- A corporate gift or thank you that needs to outlast the moment it was given in
How gifting a vineyard works
- Talk to us. It starts the same way membership does, with a conversation. We’ll go through plot size, timing, and who the gift is for.
- Choose the reveal. A printed certificate and plot map for the day itself, a private tasting together, or a visit to the plot in person.
- We handle the rest. Paperwork, plot allocation, and the vines are taken care of. All the recipient has to do is show up.
Price and timing
Membership starts from €5,000 for an ORIGIN plot.
- 1 Member + 1 Co-Member
- 132 premium bottles annually
- 500m2 Boutique Vineyard
- Expert guidance at every step.
For Christmas, get in touch by Late November or early December to have the certificate and plot map in hand for the 24th.

Questions about gifting a vineyard
Can you gift someone a vineyard?
Yes. A CLOS CIEN membership can be given as a present. The recipient holds the rights to a GPS mapped vineyard plot in La Rioja, Spain, and receives personally labelled wine from their own vines every year.
What is a good gift for someone who has everything?
A vineyard plot is one answer for people who have the usual wine gifts covered. Rather than a single item, it produces something new each year: a personal vintage from land the recipient holds.
How is this different from a wine gift or wine club?
A wine gift or wine club delivers other people’s wine on a schedule. A vineyard membership gives the recipient their own plot and their own vines, producing wine that belongs to them specifically each vintage.
How is this different from adopt-a-vine?
Adopt-a-vine schemes are symbolic: you get a certificate and wine from the estate’s general production. With CLOS CIEN the plot is real, mapped and sized, and the wine comes from those vines with the recipient’s name on the label.
Does the recipient have to visit the vineyard?
No. Wine is shipped each vintage. Visiting is [included / optional], and most members do come at least once.
Can I gift a vineyard for Christmas?
Yes. Get in touch by Early December, and we’ll have the certificate and plot map ready for the day.
